NSSA-24 will be held in Hyderabad under the leadership of Professor Manas Panigrahi. The fact that he is the President of NSSA and now he has been elected President of NSI Speaks volumes about his entrepreneurship, leadership and Organizational capabilities.

His team includes doctors like Savitr, Sandhya K etc. who are able workers. Hyderabad itself is a tech savvy place and use of technology in this Conference could be a last word. Technology is advancing at a very rapid speed. We are doctors, surgeons and clinicians. That is our core discipline.

The Organizers of NSSA  24 should strive in the deliberations to stress these core values of doctors. There is a general feeling all over the world that doctors are tending to be slaves of technology. It is unfortunate. But in our Association  we should advocate Dharma as said by Lord Rama meaning righteousness.

I am now a very Senior practicing Surgeon. Lessons taught to us during our clinical sessions as students included thorough clinical examination and then making a Working diagnosis. Minimum investigations to confirm the working diagnosis.

I feel sad to see today’s generation asking the patient straightaway “ If you have pain in the neck then have you done an MRI?” This is an unhealthy attitude and we must strive to practice Healthy Neuro Spinal Surgery.
